About the book:
Everything we own comes with a manual. Our cars, computers, cell phones and stereo systems ...
each arrives in a box with guidelines on how to turn it on, turn it off, take good care of it,
service it, and fix it when broken. In our complex world where divorce rates are so high and good
relationships are a rare yet coveted prize, wouldnt life be easier if our relationships came
with manuals too? You bet it would! Authors Arielle Ford and
Elizabeth Goodman thought so too, and they
created THE OWNER'S MANUAL: The Essential Guide to the One You Love
(October 2002, $13.00 Jodere Group). It is a step-by-step guide to the lifetime care and loving
attention to the man or woman of your dreams that you and your beloved can create together!
THE OWNERS MANUAL is a participatory, hands-on approach to creating the relationship of
your hearts desire and helping your relationship run smoothly, says co-author Arielle Ford.
It is a fun, easy, and truly interactive, fill-in-the-blank book that gives both you and
your partner the opportunity to list all of your wants, needs, desires, and fantasies along with
your essential history and your preferences in life (i.e. from which side of the bed you sleep on to
favorite movies). Topics range from childhood favorites to shoe size to what you want most in
sex, food, gifts, family, entertainment, travel, the future and much more!
Ideally you will buy two books - one for your mate to fill out and one for you. You can fill them
out as a joint project and then keep them together in a special place or swap. You will learn so
much about the one you love that it will help you navigate the waters of relationship more smoothly,
and it will give you both a chance to empower and care for one another. Do you know the following
about your mate?
- Favorite junk food/guilty pleasures
- Best way to diffuse an angry or upset mood
- Dream job
- Phobias and superstitions
- Which celebrity they would want to play them in a movie about their life
- Favorite time of day for romance
- Body parts they like having massaged
- The ideal way to wake them up in the morning
- Views on pre-nuptial agreements
Co-authors Elizabeth Goodman and Arielle Ford came up with the idea for the book many years ago out
of shear frustration. As women who understand that the true art of marriage means paying
attention to the small details - sending cards with words of appreciation, doing nice little
surprise things to make one another happy, paying attention to the little details that mean a lot
to your partner - they were feeling that their partners were not getting the message. Finally,
they decided to make a little owners manual so their guys would have explicit
directions on how to keep them smiling. The end result? The men were thrilled to have directions
and Elizabeth and Arielle got what they needed to feel loved, cherished and adored. When Arielle
heard about this idea she knew the world was ready for it.
THE OWNERS MANUAL is the perfect gift for new lovers to give to
one another as well as long time couples. It is a fun present for anniversaries, birthdays,
Valentines Day and the ultimate relationship stocking stuffer. The questions will inspire
laughter, stimulate good conversation, and create a new or renewed closeness as you learn more
about yourself and share it with someone you care about.
The Owners Manual helps take the guess work out of our
relationships!
